Abstract mixed media compositions inspired by West African masks, sculptures and symbols is one characteristic of Everett's contemporary style. In the "TRIBAL RHYTHMS" series Everett uses Egyptian papyrus, 50 year old African and American postage stamps, African textiles and Icons, shells and found objects to create stunning one of a kind collages. Silk-screened afro-centric patterns, geometric lines and shapes, brush strokes in brilliant color enhance the highly textured surfaces. These image are also enhanced with hand written social commentary to further communicate with the viewer. Everett's works are ethereal, thought provoking and spiritual as they illustrate his Afro-centric visions. |
